An Entity Relationship Diagram Example : Tips for Visio

It seems like a dying art, but I still strongly feel that Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD) should be the starting point of all software development projects. Since they are for me anyway, I wanted a place to refer colleagues to for how to read these diagrams, and an Entity Relationship Diagram Example seemed like a great place to start. The Example: A Resource Management Application Consider that we’re writing a resource management application. The first step to creating an ERD is always to identify the nouns (entities). In this case let’s start with: Company Employee Project; and Technology Project (which are a specific type of Project that perhaps require special fields like “number of entities”) Here’s the Example Entity Relationship Diagram I’ll decipher piece by piece in this article (click to enlarge): (note that I’m now using singular names since my somewhat controversial decision to switch to naming entities in the singular ) To read the notati

When you’re a company serving seven million customers, the best recognition is recognition that comes from the masses, from the people whose quality of life you contribute to on a daily basis. Dialog was bestowed that very recognition last night, at the prestigious SLIM-Nielsen People’s Awards 2012, in a glittering ceremony held at the picturesque Water’s Edge in Battaramulla, Colombo, where it was awarded Telecom Service Brand of the Year, for the year 2011. In addition to the Telecom Brand award, Dialog was awarded Youth Brand of the Year, and were also nominated for Brand of the Year (Grand Prix Award) and Service Brand of the Year. What

Android and Security (Official Google Mobile Blog)

Image
Official Google Mobile Blog: Android and Security : By Hiroshi Lockheimer, VP of Engineering, Google has had its fair share of malware-related problems in the Android Market , but that's hopefully about to change, now that the company has announced a new security-enhancing service. Codenamed "Bouncer," Mountain View's new program sounds pretty simple, in principle: it just automatically scans the Market for malware, without altering the Android user experience, or requiring devs to run through an app approval process. According to Hiroshi Lockheimer, Android's VP of Engineering, Bouncer does this by scanning recently uploaded apps for spyware, trojans or any other lethal components, while looking out for any suspicious behavior that may raise a red flag. The service also runs a simulation of each app using Google's cloud-based infrastructure, and regularly checks up on developer accounts to keep repeat offenders out of the An
